The exhibition showcases 60 of the best magazines, fanzines and journals from over 20 countries; from photocopied and print-on-demand newsletters to widely distributed magazines. Made by architects, artists and students, these archizines offer an important, and often radical, addition to architectural discourse.

San Rocco will take part to the ARCHIZINES exhibition at the Architectural Association. Curated by Elias Redstone, ARCHIZINES celebrates the recent resurgence of independent architectural publishing. The AA exhibition showcases 60 of these magazines, fanzines and journals from over 20 countries; from photocopied and print-on-demand newsletters to widely distributed magazines. Made by architects, artists and students, these archizines offer an important, and often radical, addition to architectural discourse. Each magazine is available to read in the exhibition along with video interviews with their creators talking about the relationship between architecture and publishing. An accompanying catalogue published by Bedford Press and featuring not only profiles of all 60 archizines but essays from a number of their editors will be launched at the opening.

"Books of Copies" is a new project by San Rocco.
"Books of Copies" is an online database comprised of images that can be copied in order to produce architecture. As such, "Books of Copies" are receptacles of a collective form of knowledge that we can provisionally call "architecture".

"Books of Copies" are organized according to a precise set of rules and are produced by a multitude of producers. "Books of Copies" are based on an inherently derivative and collective effort, starting with the zero-degree act of accumulation of formal knowledge, namely "collecting".

Here you will find a short introductory text about the "Books of Copies" project.

Here you will find a few sample pages from a hypothetical Book of Copies entitled "Pyramids".

"Books of Copies" will soon be available on the San Rocco website.

San Rocco is seeking motivated and talented interns to assist with the magazine's production.
Interns will be involved as team members in editorial meetings and will take part in the definition of the themes of the upcoming issues. They will also be involved in the graphic design process and aspects of the magazine's management. In addition, interns will benefit from the support and coaching of the senior members on staff at San Rocco.
The ideal candidate is motivated and critically engaged. He or she also possesses an excellent command of English, graphic design experience and familiarity with AutoCAD and the Adobe suite. A knowledge of Italian would be advantageous.

On December 18, Italian Minister of the Interior Roberto Maroni officially supported a proposal by Undersecretary Alfredo Mantovano to extend the anti-hooliganism police measure known as “Daspo” (an acronym for Divieto di accedere alle manifestazioni sportive, or prohibition of access to sporting events) to regulate access to public spaces on the occasion of political rallies.
The proposal was made on the heels of student demonstrations in Rome and has been enthusiastically supported by several of the Minister’s brilliant peers, such as the Mayor of Rome, Gianni Alemanno, and Senator Maurizio Gasparri.

In the images below, San Rocco has envisioned a modest proposal of its own to introduce efficient technological devices to regulate access to public space.
